UMCOR Sunday - 3/22/20

Through the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), we can make a difference in the lives of communities and individuals whose lives have been upended by storms, wars, climate change, and displacement. Through UMCOR, we see the impact of extravagant grace through the generosity of United Methodists.

The special offering received on UMCOR Sunday helps support the small but impactful UMCOR staff who are specialists in disaster response and recovery. Funds also ensure adequate training for emergency response coordinators, construction volunteers, and case managers who assist victims of disasters, chainsaw gangs and sheetrock installers.

Due to the craziness of the COVID-19 Pandemic, we neglected to talk about UMCOR and take a special offering for it.  So please if you would like to donate to UMCOR, send a check to the church HFUMC 31 East Street Honeoye Falls, NY 14472 and mark the memo line as UMCOR, or you can go to the following website and donate directly.

Handicap Project Update

The following is an update for the recently completed Handicap chair lift/basement access project. The original cost of the project was $102,708. With the help and leadership of some of our gifted church members the actual cost was $95,311. The Church approved a loan of $40,000 from our own Hennessey fund, with the stipulation that the loan be paid back to the Hennessey fund by the Church members. As of 02/29/2020 we have collected $17,360 in donations and pledges. This leaves us just $22,460 to repay the loan and fulfill our pledge and enjoy the basement space in our church to its fullest potential. I am asking each of you to prayerfully consider making a onetime donation to this obligation or to make a on-going pledge until this loan is paid off. Thank you, Bruce Porter, HFUMC Treasurer

A COVID-19 Update from Pastor Chris

We will have church tomorrow at 10:30 as usual. There will be some changes to the service, we will be observing social distancing.

We will be looking into distance and virtual ways to hold worship.  But as of now, our offering will take place as you come into the sanctuary, you will be able to drop your tithe or offering in the plate instead of passing the plate as we normally do.

I am also asking for all hospitality to cease until further notice, this is to reduce the risk of cross contamination.  There are other things that we may be able to do to reduce our risk at HFUMC.

I pray for health through this all, continue to practice good hygiene and keep an eye on your neighbors and friends who might be at higher risk.

God Bless,

Pastor Chris

If you’d like to try out holding or playing a bell, come in at rehearsal time. Contact Joe or any Bell Ringers for more information.

Mission & Outreach Brunch

Brunch is the first Sunday of the month following Worship. The purpose of these gatherings is to break bread and share a meal together and to fellowship with one another. A donation box is provided which covers the expenses of the meal and additional monies are added to the Mission and Outreach funds to fund future Outreach efforts.

Reception Chairperson Needed

Most of us have greatly enjoyed the multiple celebrations our church has had over the past few years. For these we owe our current Reception Chairperson, Jan Connor, our thanks. However, Jan has decided to step down as chair in order to pursue other church interests. So, we are currently in need of a new Reception Chair. This person will take responsibility for organizing receptions that follow special church events. These are mainly the receptions following weddings and funerals but may also include celebrations after other special occasions such as baptisms and graduations. Jan is willing to assist the next chair, and can answer any questions those interested in the position may have. Please contact Gary Albright, 582-1473, if you are willing to volunteer for this position.
